European importers are gearing up for a strong Southern Hemisphere table grape deal this year, with both supplies and demand looking solid in the run-up to the 2008/09 season, according to Jan Rozema of Verdi Import, a year-round player on the EU market. "We expect there will be good demand and firm prices for Southern Hemisphere grapes, particularly from the early regions, including Peru and South Africa," Mr Rozema tells Eurofruit Magazine. "European demand for grapes in general is OK at the moment, but most importantly for white and red seedless varieties," he continues. "In fact, I'd venture to say that the red seedless varieties in particular are growing the most in terms of sales and consumption."
