Capespan launches new logistics entity

SOUTH Africa's largest exporter, Capespan, has launched The Fresh Chain, a new part of its logistics division, which will operate independently as a logistics service provider in the industry. Heading the new company is Rory Netter-ville, a supply chain expert, who says the competitive advantages that will set The Fresh Chain apart are its economies of scale, coupled with effective management of supply chain services. According to Mr Netterville, who has been appointed as general manager of The FreshChain after spells at both Outspan International and Capespan's supply chain division, trading conditions in the fresh produce industry have been tough for some time. However, he believes there is good potential for his company to establish its business.
