The Late Holocene evolution of chernozems in the south of the centralforest-steppe region

Paleochernozems with thin humus horizons and a low depth of effervescence have been studied under burial mounds of the Bronze Age in the forest-steppe zone of the Dnieper-Don interfluve. Modern analogues of these soils can be found in the steppe zone 150-180 km to the southeast of the studied area. Modern soils of autonomous positions with a relatively shallow depth of slightly saline rocks in the studied area are represented by typical and leached chernozems that have developed from solonetzic chernozems of the Subboreal period of the Holocene.
