Acid Components of Water and Salt Extracts from Podzolic Soils

It was shown that wak and strong acid componets can be identified in water and salt extracts from podzolic soils. Among weak acids, aluminum ions and weak hydrogen-containing acids were found. The relative content of the latter increased when the total concentration of weak acids in the extracts increased. On the basis of comparing the contents of chemically inert aluminum compounds and strong acids in the extracts under study, it was suggested that the presence of strong acids in the extracts is related to the hydrolysis of aluminum compounds in soils.
