The SPEAK campaign originally began with a campaign against Cambridge University,following a planning application in February 2001,to South Cambridgeshire District Council to build a huge new research complex including a vivisection laboratory.Although that facility was never built,Oxford is now engaged in the construction of a new animal housing facility for research purpose,which SPEAK opposes.
