摘要

The use of smelting reactor technology for the thermal treatment of low zinc bearing residues has been successfully demonstrated at an industrial scale over three years. The main challenge to the applied process was an operation with great regard to environmental performance. Low emissions, low off-gas volume, clean safe products, zinc recycling, heat utilisation, clean workplace environment are the significant advantages. Regarding the importance of the process as a contribution to the raw materials resources and also to environmental protection, the process, the plant and the metallurgical results are described and discussed. Environmental considerations, economics and problems of the smelting reactor process are highlighted. The adoption of the smelting reactor process for the thermal treatment of low zinc bearing residues is technically feasible and environmentally friendly.
