California-based market intelligence and global consulting services firm CleanTech Group announced January 8 that worldwide venture investment across all clean technology (i.e. cleantech) sectors totaled US$6.8 billion in all of 2013, a 15% decrease from 2012 ($7.9 billion). “On a quarterly basis; however,” according to CleanTech Group in a statement, “investment rose throughout 2013 at a rate of 14.5%, compounded quarterly, signaling a positive shift after five consecutive quarters of decline that began in first-quarter (1Q) 2012 and ended in 1Q 2013.”
