A new scheme has been launched by the SSIP Competence Forum, which will aim to simplify health and safety pre-qualifications in the construction sector. When contractors and consultants tender for construction work, or simply apply to be on an approved list, they must demonstrate their health and safety competence. Often, this is achieved by completing pre-qualification assessments but increasingly, contractors and others are required to complete different and varied pre-qualification forms, and this duplicated effort adds considerably to costs and paperwork.
