Train Employees in a Way They'll Understand

One manager's experience with becoming an AWPT training center highlights the need to be flexible in our approach to instructing operators. As president of the SWRI trade group, I was introduced to IPAF and the AWPT operator training program in early 2012 when I attended a very powerful and convincing presentation on the topic of aerial lift framing and familiarization. It encouraged me to further evaluate what we were doing in our company regarding operator framing. With over 40 AWPs in use every day on our projects, I needed to ensure we were, doing the right thing for our employees and our clients.
