Recurrent corneal ulceration secondary to an iris cyst

Abnormalities of the uveal tract include zones of iris hypoplasia (Buyukmihci ef al. 1992), granular iridica hypoplasia and hyperplasia (Barnett 2004; Hum and Turner 2006), iris and ciliary body cysts (Gilger ef al. 1997; Ramsey et al. 1999; Gemensky-Metzler ef al. 2004). In horses, prominence of the posterior pigmented epithelium or corpora nigra is commonly noted on the superior pupillary margin with smaller bodies occasionally present along the inferior margin (Carastro 2004). Occasionally with visible vascularity, these are 2-iayered epithelial extensions and, if at the pupillary margin, represent vestiges of the optic vesicle.
