Fate of Culex quinquefasciatus egg-raft exposed to predatory mosquito Toxorhynchites splendens.

Egg-rafts of vector mosquito Culex quinquefasciatus were offered to the predacious Toxorhynchites splendens larvae separately and in combinations with other aquatic morphs of the species experimentally, in laboratory. It was revealed that there was no possibility of emergence of imago of C. quinquefasciatus if only one egg-raft was offered to a T. splendens larva. But, in presence of other acceptable prey-morphs the third and fourth instar T. splendens destroyed 29 and 45.5% of the total egg-mass often egg-rafts respectively in addition to consumption of a good number of instar larvae, during the period of 24 hours of a day.
