Role Perception and Role Performance of Forest Villagers with respact to Ecological Perspective of Forest Resources

The present study related to role perception and role performance of forest inhabitants with respect to ecological improvement through forest resources was conducted in Golaghat Forest Division of Assam. A sample size of 203 respondents selected by using proportionate random sampling were considered for date collection. The study reveals that majority of the respondents had low level of both perception and performance of role items related to ecological improvement with forest resources with considerable gap between the two. Among the selected 20 independent variables, education, social participation, materials possession, scientific orientation, interest in forestry, information seeking behavior, forestry knowledge and attitude towards forest resource conservation were found to be positively significant with their levels of role perception and role performance towards ecological improvement with forest resources in forest villages.
