Field Evaluation of Chilli Germplasms Against Yellow Mite, Polyphagotarsonemuslatus (Banks) (Acari-Tarsonemidae) and Its Management under Gangetic Basin of West Bengal

The chilli (Capsicum annuum L.) yellow mite, Polyphagotarsonemus latus (Banks) was observed as the most notorious pest causing substantial yield loss under Gangetic Basin of West Bengal. Forty four chilli germplasms were screened and incidence patternof yellow mite was observed during the growing period of the crop. It was revealed from the experiment that none of the germplasms were resistant against the yellow mite, however the germplasm, BCCH-SL-4 (IC564032) was found to be the least susceptibleto yellow mite (1.00 mite/leaf) followed by SBD-1-1(I.30 mite/leaf). On the other hand the germplasms SB-5-4-1-2 (15.50 mites/leaf) and SB-5-4-1 -1 (14.00 mites/leaf) were recorded to be the most susceptible against yellow mite. The highestyield also obtain from BCCH-SL-4 (7.80 t/ha). New acaricides molecules were also tested against the yellow mite. Among the treatments, application of Dicofol 18.5 EC @ 2.5 ml/lit, Spiromesifen 22.9% EC @ 1 ml/lit and Diafenthiuron 1. g/lit were significantly superior to other treatments.
