Studies to assess the pant diversity around Renuka lake falling in Renuka Wild Life Sanctuary, Himachal Pradesh were carried out during August, 2003. Total of 109 herbaceous plant species including regeneration of 15 tree and shrub species were recorded from the area. On the basis of importance value index (IVI) Xanthium indicum J. Koenig was found to be the dominant species followed by Oplismenus compositus (L.) P. Beauv., Nelumbo nucifera Gaertner and Phyla nodiflora (L.) Greene. The distribution of all the plant species except Vallaris solanacea (Roth.) Kuntze and Fimbristylis sp. was contagious. Index of dominance was recorded to be 0.021 whereas index of diversity was 5.976.
