Evaluation of Genotypes of Finger Millet and Foxtail Millet Against Brown Leaf Spot Disease

About 65 finger millet genotypes and 15 foxtail millet genotypes were evaluated in field against brown spot disease causing pathogen Drechslera nodulosa and Drechslera setariae respectively. Among the 65 genotypes of finger millet 30 were remain immune. 24 were highly resistant, six resistant and five showed moderately resistant reaction. In case of 15 foxtail millet genotypes evaluation against the brown spot disease causing pathogen Drechslera setariae, seven of them remain highly resistant and seven were resistant while one showed moderately resistant reaction. Thus confirming an important source of resistance in the evaluated genotypes of finger millet and foxtail millet which can be utilized as a source of resistance for breeding disease resistant lines against brown spot disease.
