摘要

The present investigation was carried out during 2009-2010. Specific combining ability was estimated for different characters of bottle gourd in line x testers mating design consisting of 12 lines and 3 tester and their 36 F1 hybrids. Analysis of variance for combining ability showed significant difference for all the characters, indicating normal genetic diversity towards combining ability. The variation in testers (male) was also significant for all the characters except weight per fruit. The line x tester interaction components also emerged significant for all the characters. The experiment was carried out under line x tester mating design to determine the combining ability effects in respect to fruit yield and its various component traits in diverse lines of bottle gourd under sub tropical conditions of Lucknow. The crosses VRBG-44 x PSPL, PBOG-22 x PSPL and VRBG-88 x NDBG-104 were found to be good specific combiners for fruit yield and its related contributing traits.
