摘要

On 2 January 2011, small numbers of oval galls were found on stems, petioles and along the leaf midribs on a sapling red gum tree (Eucalyptus camaldulensis) planted in Parque de la Condesa in Isla de Gran Canaria, Spain. However, it was until the author visited the park again on 7 April 2013, and found the same individual sapling to be infested with hundreds of galls that a sample was taken and examined. There were numerous fresh galls lined up along the midribs of the foliage; ~50 galls were dissected open and each gall was found to contain a single live hymenopteran larva. There was no evidence of parasitism or inquilines. A small number of galls, mostly on the petioles, had emergence holes. The gall morphology and host species confirmed the presence of blue gum chalcid wasp, L. invasa. This is thought to be the first report of L. invasa in the Canary Islands.
