R&D aims at cost reduction, quality improvement, higher productivity and product diversification

Jindal Stainless has been able to retain and consolidate its leadership in stainless steel in India year after year. Behind the success lies an untiring spirit of full commitment towards supplying the customers with world class products and continuously innovate to come up with new products with competitive cost. R&D division has been engaged in development of value added products, process improvements, quality improvements as well as development of new production processes routes. In the past, this division has spearheaded the development of low Nickel- High manganese and high Nitrogen bearing austenitic stainless steel, the J series, generically belonging to the 200 series, which have enabled the company to save thousands of crores of foreign exchange due to reduced importation of Nickel with our products substituting 300 series grades of stainless steels. The J series grades primarily require ferro-chrome. ferro-manganese and silico-manganese, raw materials that are readily available in India. The development of in-house know-how for the J series has enhanced our global competitiveness and enabled the company to export large quantities, thereby earning valuable foreign exchange as well.
