Banger Higgins and the art of making porcelain in the 1740s

An intriguing reference to porcelain making occurs in an obituary in The General Evening Post of 22nd October 1748. Very similar notices appeared subsequently in the Ipswich Journal (29th October 1748) (1), Newcastle Courant (29th October 1748) and Derby Mercury (28th October 1748). The provincial papers had clearly copied a news item from the London paper.
