The domestic refractory industry's performance continues to be impacted by the slowdown in the steel industry. Since Indian steelmakers consume nearly 70% of the total refractories produced, the fortune of the refractory industry is therefore very much dependant on the steel industry. Even though the steel industry is expected to remain under pressure for another 5-8 years, it is certainly expected to grow thereafter.
