Presently, India's stainless steel production of about 1.8 Mt/y is not covering the rising demand of the India domestic market. JSL which produces 0.8 Mt/y of stainless steel from its Hisar plant, has built a steel plant in Odisha to setup 1.0 Mt/y of capacity as part of first phase. JSL plans to go up to 2.5 Mt/y of stainless steel output capacity by March 2014. JSL Limited is interested in developing a Stainless Steel Industrial Park for proposed downstream industries producing various stainless steel products adjacent to its integrated stainless steel plant at Kalinganagar, Jajpur, Odisha. This park will use the finished products from JSL plant. There will be a Service Centre setup by JSL and about 70 units from different other companies. JSL proposes to develop the park and provide all infrastructures for the proposed units. Those include Auto Components, Surgical & Hospital equipments, Architectural Products, Hardware, Stamping & Forging, Cold Rolling & fie. rolling mills, Tube & Pipes, Heat Exchangers, Heavy Machinery Capital Goods, Components for Railway coach, Kitchenware, Lifestyle Product, Stainless Steel Composite panel manufacturing etc. For the first phase (1.0 Mt/y plant), Andritz supplied an Hot Annealing and Pickling Line and a Cold Annealing and Pickling line. The contract between Jindal Stainless Steel Ltd. (JSL) and Andritz AG was signed on 19.12.2007. The erection works started in Jan. 2010. Besides the increasing production figures, the aimed quality parameters are achieved, such as thickness profile and shape of the strip. The results already achieved, especially forAISI 300 series steel grades, prove that the pickling pocess meets the requirements for top product quality. Actually, the joint efforts of Jindaland Andritz experts arefocussedon improvement of interaction of all technological units of the lines for achieving such a yield factor that makes the plant one of the most efficient worldwide.
