Lack of iron ore causing hiatus to small steel companies

Small and medium steel companies in India are facing the storm, and it's lack of iron ore. As per recent data by the Joint Plant Committee, the non-alloy and carbon steel segment saw a downfall of 2.1 per cent in production in the April-November 2012 period. Largely, the decline in production stood at 1.6 per cent. Total production in the segment stood at about 27 million tonnes (mt), a litde more than the combined output of the main and major producers.
