Electrochemical oscillations on a rotating iron electrode in 0.5 M H2SO4;solution containing an organic corrosion inhibitor (beta-phenaminopropiophenone) in the active potential region (-0.60 V to -0.42 V vs. SCE) were observed and investigated for the first time. These potentiostatic current oscillations can occur under cathodic polarization, as well as under anodic polarization. The oscillation period, amplitude, incubation time and waveform changed with the applied potential and electrode rotating speed. This periodic behavior maybe attributed to the adsorption-desorption of the inhibitor on the iron surface. (C) 1998 Elsevier Science Ltd. All rights reserved. [References: 7]
