World oil demand to grow by 1.6% next year, says IEA

Powered largely by growth in Asia, the International Energy Agency (IEA) said it has revised upwards its forecasts for world oil demand for this and next year.It now expects world oil demand to rise by 1.6% or 1.3 million b/d to 85.25 million b/d in 2010, as compared to 85.2 million b/d in its previous forecast released in July. For 2009, the Paris-based agency predicts the world to consume 83.94 million b/d, up by 190,000 b/d from July's forecast, but still lower than actual demand in 2008.
