The two most recent base load coal fired power stations in Queensland (Millmerin and Kogan Creek) are air cooled. Banks of finned tubes directly condense the turbine exhaust steam back to condensate. For existing power stations designed to use water cooling with cooling towers to re-cool the water, it is not feasible to convert these to direct condensing using air as coolant. However, the cooling circuit water can be at least partially air cooled.
