Bumi targets 90mn t coal output in 2014

Indonesian coal producer Bumi Resources aims to increase its 2014 coal production by up to 10mn t from a year earlier to as much as 90mn t. Bumi previously said it expected its 2013 production to reach more than 80mn t, more than 8pc above an initial target of 74mn t. “Our capability in 2014 is to produce close to 90mn t and 100mn t in the next year,” the company’s director and corporate secretary Dileep Srivastava said. “We are targeting production of between 80mn t and 90mn t in 2014.” The company plans to set aside $50-$100mn to carry out mining infrastructure maintenance this year amid the expected production rise, Srivastava said.
