Coal companies operating in Colombia are preparing three shipments to Japan, following the sale of the first cargo to the Asian country last month, a trader said. As much as 210,000t in three Panamax vessels are set to depart Colombian ports located in Cienaga municipality in the near future, a trader with knowledge of the matter told Argus. The planned departures follow the sale of a 61,500t vessel by mining firm Drummond to trading firm Itochu last month. The vessel departed Puerto Drummond on 23 March, setting sail for Japan’s Tachibana port.
