Crude futures moved lower over the past week amid signs that US production remains resilient despite falling rig counts. Prompt month Nymex light, sweet crude futures settled lower by $1.91/bl yesterday at $39.94/bl. WTI dropped by more than 10pc in November. The fall was partly prompted by US Energy Information Administration data showing a smaller-than-expected drop in the country’s production in September, holding flat in top-producing Texas and increasing by nearly 19pc from a year earlier in the federal offshore Gulf of Mexico.
