BP’s Whiting refinery starts turnaround for coker

A turnaround began early this month at BP’s 410,000 b/d Whiting refinery in Indiana – work that is expected to cut by half the amount of feedstock moving through that facility. The company confirmed that a project to replace the largest of its three crude units and install new coking capacity has started. The long-planned project will allow 85pc of the refinery’s capacity to process heavy crude once it is completed, up from the current 20pc.
