As of the first quarter 2005 edition, all prices and taxes are expressed in New Turkish Lira. Apart from oil products, all energy prices are determined by the Turkish government. From 1Q88 onwards, prices refer to the monthly averages of the quarter. Prior to 1Q88, prices refer to the second month of the quarter. See individual products for exceptions. General Tax (VAT): A value-added tax was introduced in 1986. Unless specified otherwise, VAT applies to household (or non-commercial) use. See individual product descriptions.
