Overcoming the limitations of bus-based architectures

The advent of the Internet, smart cards, ecommerce and digital video has challenged conventional architecture. Three years ago, the author of this paper set out to develop a solution, which would result in a more appropriate architecture for networked products. The results, a model based solution, called InAct, are described in this feature.
