摘要

A series of highly publicized reports throughout 2015 in the USA exposed the vulnerability of late-model vehicles to a variety of cyberattacks. The global awareness of this increasing threat is pressuring lawmakers, regulators and car makers into action. At one point or another in 2015, it seemed as if every 'white hat' security expert found a way to manipulate a vehicle's mechanical and electrical functions with a cell phone or laptop. Getting their proof of concept stories into the mainstream media prompted undue exaggeration and overreaction with some critics, but mostly the news confirmed suspicions that as vehicle computing power increases with every new model year, system flaws that could potentially be unsafe, as well as costly to the consumer and OEM, will be discovered.
