Paris feels the squeeze: The French capital plans a new central-area traffic management strategy

The city of Paris has appointed UK-based consultancy MVA to advise it on an action plan for reducing traffic in the centre of the French capital The study area covers the four central arrondissements (districts), stretching east-west from Bastille to Concorde and north-south from Opera to the Rive Gauche (Left Bank), and includes the main business and tourist areas. The study looks ahead to the period 2007-2012. MVA's advisory involvement started in September 2004 and is due to end in May 2005, with the presentation to the Paris City Council of an optimal scenario.
