摘要

New Zealand is currently building the country's first tolled motorway, which will use electronic fee collection (EFC) from the outset, under Transit New Zealand's Toll Systems Project, This aims to develop a national strategic approach to standards for the electronic collection and processing of charges for use on tolling schemes on the country 10,800km state highway (SH) network. The pioneering scheme is the SHI Northern Motorway extension (known as ALPURT B2 - for Albany to Puhoi RealignmenT sector B2) in New Zealand's North Island. This is the final stage of the motorway, running 7.5km from an interchange at Orewa to Puhoi, on which construction started in 2004. The extension is expected to be complete by 2009, with a tolling system in place.
