Comparative study of long term effect ofnutrient management practices on growth, productivity and economics of rice

A field Experiment was conducted at central research farm (Gayeshpur), Bidhan Chandra Krishi Viswavidyalaya, Nadia, West Bengal, during kharif session in 2004 and continued up to 2013, with the objective to make comparative analysis of different nutrient management practices on rice in relation to growth, productivity and economics after 10th crop of rice in rice - groundnut - potato cropping sequence. The experiment was layed out in simple RBD with 8 treatments and replicated thrice. Results showedthat among the different organic and inorganic based nutrient management practices, 50% Recommended NPK (inorganic) + 50% N as FYM + ZnS04 to paddy only (T,) and l/3rd Recommended N each from FYM, Vermicompost, Neemcake + Biofertilizers containing N andP carriers (T6) were recorded significantly higher plant height, Leaf area Index, dry matter accumulation plant_1and Crop growth rate and grain yields than the all other treatments. The grain yields were 26.86 % (case of T ) and 24.25 % (in case of T6) higher than the exclusively inorganic fertilizer treatments. Among all treatments, T, (50% Recommended NPK (inorganic) + 50% N as FYM + ZnS04 to paddy only) showed highest Benefit cost ratio (2.72) followed by T6 (l/3rd Recommended N each from FYM, Vermicompost, Neemcake + Biofertilizers containing N and P carriers) (2.49).
