Anglo American/Mondi want control of Portucel

Anglo American,which owns Mondi,has made bid for a 30% stake in Portucel.The stake,as previously re-ported in IPW,is being sold as part of a reprivatisation process by the Government of Portugal.In addition,Anglo American has entered into an agree-ment with the Sonae group regarding its interest in Portucel.Under this agreement,Anglo American will be able to acquire a Controlling posi-tion in Portucel,depending on certain conditions,such as succeeding with its bid in the privatisation process.
