Steel ministry against open auction for granting mining lease

The steel ministry has suggested that domestic value-addition in already prospected areas should be the prime consideration for granting mining lease, instead of open auction as suggested by the Hoda committee. This came in response to the comments on the draft Cabinet note circulated by the mines ministry to amend the National Mineral Policy and Mines and Minerals (Development and Regulation) Act, 1957.
