Some 20 seismic surveys were carried out on the Norwegian shelf in 2004, according to figures from the Norwegian Petroleum Directorate (NPD).A total of more than 500,000 line kms were shot, some 170,000 km more than in 2003, but about the same volume as in 2002. There were no seismic surveys north of Lofoten in 2004.
