The latest oil discovery off Mauritania appears to be uncommercial although evaluation is ongoing. Woodside drilled the Labeidna-1 well to the final total depth of 10,105ft (3,080m) using the Stena Tay rig.Wireline logs, including downhole pressure measurements and fluid sampling, were taken but a preliminary evaluation indicates that the well intersected an oil-bearing interval comprising an interbedded series of thin sands and claystones. Additional wireline logs will be acquired to quantify the significance of the discovery.
