Blow to Northern rig deals

Rig operator Northern Offshore is blaming the global financial crisis for its failure to get credit to buy two drilling units from Transocean Offshore.Oslo-listed Northern had agreed in principle to buy the two semisubmersibles from Transocean but today the company declared that it had been unable to obtain lender consents for the acquisition and the necessary financing for the deals.
