CCS provides bridge to sustainable energy

CCS is held up by many as a necessary means to combat climate change, while others claim that it has no place in a future of sustainable energy supply. For the energy industry the question is: How can future demands be met with low CO_2 emitting energy? Projections put forward by the International Energy Agency (IEA) indicate fossil fuels will continue to be the main energy source for decades to come even if all of the suggested political incentives to increase renewable energy production are put into effect. It would be unwise, however, to believe that the threat of climate change will not affect the fossil fuel industry.
