There is a wealth of data available to a business to improve decision making and profitability, both within the business and the market place. Google's revenue during its second year of business increased by 352% over its first year (hence the strap line). Whilst this illustrates the power of data, it is appreciated that few smaller businesses have resources to equal Google's. There is, however, an opportunity to improve business performance through understanding the data that is available and selecting which can be used to support better decision making. Too often, business decisions are made on instinct, which can be misleading. We are also comfortable with what we've done before and 'cherry pick' the numbers to support what we want to do.
