摘要

After creation of irrigation potential in an area, the allocation of the irrigation water among the users for drawing maximum return per unit of water or per unit of land area, is as important as the creation of the irrigation potential itself. The high yielding varieties of different crops perform satisfactorily only, if water supply to these crops is made available in time as per the need. To distribute the irrigation water among users, three methods are in vogue. These are: supply on demand, continuous supply and rotation delivery. In the present form, all these three methods, if practised alone, is likely to suffer from on one or the other drawbacks (Svehlik, 1987). It may however to some extent, be possible to overcome these shortcomings by making use of combinations of two or more methods.
