FIELD: measurement equipment.;SUBSTANCE: substance of the method consists in using two water level sensors equipped with facilities of remote transmission of level readings installed in level indication wells of upper and lower hydrometric gates, detection of water levels in sites, drop of levels between upper and lower sites and calculation of water flow rate. Acoustic, ultrasonic level sensors, etc. may be used with measurement error within 0.01 m. The method to determine water flow rate in open canals of irrigation systems according to the method "slope-area" is carried out in the following manner: from a canal along connection pipelines water arrives into level indication wells in upper and lower hydrometric sites. When water course is stable, in level indication wells water level sensors continuously register measured parameters with the specified interval and with the help of remote transmission facilities information will be transmitted to a dispatcher's station, equipped with facilities of its processing and flow rate calculation. The sought for flow rate is calculated according to produce data and with available parameters of the canal. This method makes it possible to track water levels in sites in real time mode, level difference between sites, efficient detection of water flow rate with relative error of 2.6%.;EFFECT: level indication wells make it possible to eliminate pulsation of water level, which also increases measurement accuracy.;2 dwg
