THE PMI GLOBAL CONGRESS, EDINBURGH 2005

Monday 23 May saw the opening of the PMI Global Congress (EICC) Edinburgh. Kevin Emsley, Regional Representative (Edinburgh & Lothian) attended as a special guest of Mr Gary Boyler (PMI Director). The event appeared to go without a single hitch and was attended by some 600 delegates on the opening day within the award-winning Edinburgh International Conference Centre for the first time. The previous week, when Kevin had his first meeting with Mr Boyler, the conversation was based upon possible links and future relations with the ABE and the PMI, with an emphasis on the ABE receiving recognition within the North Americas. The event opened with the entire governing council of the PMI entering the hall, led by ceremonial Scottish pipers and all Board members wearing matching highland dress.This was indeed an impressive sight! I felt somewhat out of place, being one of the very few Scots in the room and was more than impressed at the PMI's ability to draw such an international gathering of project managers under one roof.
