WITH THE FIRST ROUND OF project approvals under the Forest Industry Development Agenda (FIDA) now complete, nine projects out of 14 submitted have been accepted by the steering group. FIDA will contribute a total of NZ 1.109 million dollar, contingenton the various industry groups contributing a total of NZ 370,000 dollar based on the 3:1 funding formula. So far two agreements have been formally completed. The successful bids involve a number of initiatives designed to increase the use of timber, including an oft-discussed generic campaign to promote the use of wood in the domestic market along the lines of the United Kingdom's highly successful wood.forgood campaign.
