JUSTICE FOR DRUGS AND ALCOHOL POLICIES AT WORK

Figures from the recent Ministry of Justice motoring offences and breath test statistics - England and Wales 2006, have helped to make the case for drugs and alcohol policies at work. Disqualification for drug and alcohol driving has increased from 2005, as has the number of positive or refused tests, and nearly 90 percent of those convicted were male and over 21 years of age. Over 87,000 people were disqualified for driving after consuming alcohol or taking drugs in 2006. Out of these, 70 percent were disqualified from driving for more than one year. The number of positive or refused tests also rose in 2006 to 105,700, with 88 percent of those found guilty of an offence in court being over the age of 21.
