Aid to Canada forest industry tops CUS2 billion with New Brunswick package

The New Brunswick provincial government will infuse CUS250 million into the ailing forest industry there,promising timber supply security and providing direct investment to companies.Since last fall,Canadian federal and provincial governments have extended almost CUS2.1 billion in aid to support the distressed forestry sector and save thousands of related jobs,the largest such aid package in history.The moves come as Canadian markets suffer the worst contractions in 25 years (see related story).
