"The 21st-century educational building is bold and exciting. It's fully inclusive and promotes learning that's crafted around the deeds of the; individual. BSF creates an environment designed for life-long learning, sport, leisure, business, social activities, advice, information and well-being. The new learning environment is open, informal, sociable, comfortable and secure, allowing students to work on their own or in a variety of group sizes. Classrooms still have a purpose but spaces are much more fluid, flexible and adaptable, for example, with folding and demountable walls."Building design, with appropriate access, can provide many more opportunities for learning outside the formal school day, so that boundaries between school and the community become less defined over time. Educational buildings are being designed with more of a community focus in mind, potentially offering a broader range of family and community services than ever before. There will be extended opportunities for sport, evening classes, training, a community base for e-learning, vocational training and an opportunity to foster relationships with local business partners.
