This summer, US consumers won't receive the same shock at the gas pump as they did last year, when crude and gasoline prices reached record levels, the US Energy Department's Energy Information Administration (EIA) said Tuesday in its short-term fuels outlook. The average retail price for US gasoline during the 2009 summer driving season will be $2.23 per gallon, 41% lower than last year, when prices averaged $3.81/gallon.
